Beloved Actor Pat Finn, Recognized For Appearances in Friends and The Middle, Dies at Age 60.
American actor Pat Finn, who was seen in iconic programs including "Friends", Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed at the age of 60.
The skilled improv artist passed away at his residence in LA on Monday after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, according to reports.
"Pat Finn considered no one a stranger - solely future friends he hadn't encountered," his family said in a statement.
They added that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with happiness and energy".
An Extensive Television Career
His debut TV appearance was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the lead character's sibling.
He subsequently landed a recurring role on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.
He starred as Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a host famous for delegating burdensome jobs to his guests.
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous well-known programs, like:
- "King of Queens"
- Friends
- "That '70s Show"
- House, M.D.
His most famous role for portraying the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons over nearly a decade.
His film credits include "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
A Life in Improv
Away from his television work, Finn was a skilled improviser and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was involved with a six-member improv team called Beer Shark Mice.
"Pat coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils over the years and it would be difficult to find anyone anyplace who has anything negative to say about him," his relatives stated.
In a tribute, peer Richard Kind noted there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, authentic human being you could encounter".
"Always positive, assisting others to improve and be funnier. An excellent dad and person," he posted on social media.
Finn is survived by his wife Donna, his three kids, and his parents and siblings.
