The Ghanaian midfielder has quickly become as Tottenham Hotspur's key player.

Since his arrival from West Ham this summer for a fee of £55m, the Ghana international has been a bright spark for the Spurs midfield.

Currently, with four Premier League assists to his name, at last scored his first goal with the decisive goal during a 2-1 win against Leeds United at Elland Road.

"It was about time, wasn't it? We've got big expectations," stated manager the Spurs boss.

"I'm delighted for Mohammed - he was craving that goal. He has been our best offensive player up to now. You just see he appeared more relaxed and fluid."

Kudus' incisive pass assisted Mathys Tel to score his maiden strike of the season before Kudus struck into the bottom corner to reclaim Tottenham's advantage after the Leeds forward leveled the score for Leeds.

"Mohammed Kudus has enjoyed an excellent start with Spurs," remarked ex-United and England forward the pundit, who is a pundit on Saturday's Match of the Day.

"He already had several assists but was missing that goal and now he has it."

The player explained to TNT Sports after the win that he was "waiting" for his first goal.

"For any forward, it boosts your confidence when you score. This is progress forward," he added.

Mohammed Kudus Shines Among the Manager's Summer Acquisitions

Tottenham supported new manager Frank in the transfer window, investing £181 million for Dutch playmaker Xavi Simons, Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel, defender Kevin Danso and Kudus.

Insiders revealed at the time that Kudus preferred a switch to north London despite at least six elite teams enquiring about the 25-year-old.

He cited Frank as one of the main reasons for choosing Spurs - a decision now yielding benefits, especially with injuries to key creative players leaving them lacking creativity on occasion this season.

The midfielder has featured in almost every minute in Spurs' league matches so far, generating 13 opportunities in Premier League play - trailing only Manchester City's Grealish (17), Bruno Fernandes (16) and Anton Stach (14).

Versus Leeds United, he contested 19 duels, winning 10 of them - more than any other player in the game.

"Spurs have spent significant funds and now possess considerable squad depth with numerous attacking options, but I think Mohammed Kudus has been the top among the new arrivals," stated the former striker.

"He's brought a different aspect to the team, both on and off the ball."

His exceptional skill on the ball is unmatched in the league this season, while his agility and creativity make him a constant threat in attack.

"I appreciate his ball control, keeps hold of it and buys time for his team-mates to support him further up the pitch," said the pundit. "He's a thrilling talent, quick, strong and works hard. Everything about him in the match was outstanding."

Ex-Newcastle and England forward Shearer said: "Most parts of his game have been brilliant this season, other than putting the ball in the back of the net, but he's off the mark now and that is a positive development.

"He was a real threat today and looks an excellent signing for Tottenham."

• Mohammed Kudus completed each of his six dribbles versus Leeds, the best success rate by a Tottenham Hotspur player in a Premier League game since Tanguy Ndombele against Aston Villa back in March 2021 (also six out of six).
• The midfielder has tried 57 dribble attempts in Premier League action this season, more than any other player (Doku is next with 39).
• From those 57 tries, 30 have been completed, which is also the top figure in the league (Jeremy Doku second with 18).
• He has produced 13 opportunities in the league to date, behind only Jack Grealish (17), Fernandes (16) and Stach (14).
• Only Haaland and Semenyo (each with nine) boast more goal involvements in the Premier League this term than Kudus, with five (one goal, four assists), and four of those five occurring versus recently promoted teams.
