Palestinian-American Youth Released After Nine Months in Israeli Detention

A American-Palestinian youth who spent a nine-month period in Israeli detention absent formal charges has been freed.

Mohammed Ibrahim had just turned 15 at the time of his arrest last February throughout the West Bank territory, where he was visiting from his Florida home accused of stone-throwing at Jewish settlers, allegations he repeatedly contested.

United States authorities applauded the news of Mohammed's release.

Now sixteen years old, required hospitalization upon gaining freedom, according to close relatives.

Family described him as showing signs of malnutrition, and experiencing medical problems developed during imprisonment.

Through an official statement, the youth's uncle conveyed their "tremendous relief".

Zeyad Kadur described how relatives endured "enduring a dreadful, continuous nightmare" during the entire detention period.

"Currently, we are focused on ensuring Mohammed receives the immediate medical attention he needs after experiencing Israel's abuse and brutal treatment over several months."

American authorities stated they would maintain to offer diplomatic assistance for the Ibrahim family.

{"The Trump Administration has no higher priority than the safety and security for United States citizens"," officials stated.

Twenty-seven US lawmakers submitted a formal letter to the state department and the administration, urging greater action to secure his release.

The father, parent of four children operating an ice cream shop based in Tampa, previously claimed his son only confessed about rock throwing because the soldiers beat him.

He had not seen or spoken to Mohammed since the arrest, and only heard what had happened to him via legal paperwork.

Mohammed was held absent formal charges within Ofer penitentiary throughout the occupied territory.

Additionally housing mature inmates, some of whom have been convicted regarding severe security violations and murder.
