Trump Calls Loved Ones of Attacked Guard Members to the White House
Former President Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the executive mansion.
He mentioned that he spoke to her family and they were “deeply grieving”.
Details on the Devastating Incident
Specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a attack on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in grave state.
Memorials across the state have taken place in their remembrance.
White House Offer
The president explained he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the families of both members of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president told reporters. “And similarly with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”
Community Reaction
Community members assembled over the weekend at the high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Beckstrom.
Both the soldiers had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s government program to support policing efforts in Washington DC.
Honoring Sarah Beckstrom
“Sarah was the kind of student that teachers hoped for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a positive energy that encouraged those around her,” the principal, the principal of her former high school, told the media. “She was caring, considerate and always willing to support those in need.”
Memorial plans for Sarah are still being arranged.
Legal Actions and Policy Changes
Authorities have indicted a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of murder and charges of violent assault while carrying a weapon.
The event caused the administration to suspend asylum processing and temporarily stop issuing entry permits to holders of travel documents.
Condition of the Airman
Wolfe, a native of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, per the Associated Press.
He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
Attorney general the attorney general told the program that she aimed to meet with Wolfe’s family.
Legacy of the Fallen Soldier
Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County High in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a law enforcement officer with excellence, according to the military.
“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had fortitude,” he addressed the audience at the vigil. “Though her life was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
